Legal situation in Germany

The introduction of into anti discrimination into Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany is a major change in politics for disabled people. Disabled people will no longer be looked as an object of governmental care.

The new policies and procedures of the Code of Social Law (SGB IX, 2001) are formulated in this sense. Government support shall empower disabled people to take care of most of their needs on their own.

The core concepts of §3 of the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Code of Social Law (SGB IX) are taken up and appropriated by the Disability Equality law (BGG).
